Natural ingredients found in the kitchen for hair growth

Oil or Hair oil:

Oil is a vital ingredient and a popular option for hair fall, dry hair, thinning of hair, split ends, etc. Almond oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, and coconut oil are the best hair oils that would aid in faster hair growth. It contains plenty of essential fats, minerals, and proteins, which will prevent your hair from breaking and stop excessive loss. Hair oil is a natural moisturizer and provides the right nutrition for the healthy growth of your hair. 

Use regular oil or at least once a week, to maintain the oil content of your hair adequately which is essential for shiny looking hair.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera has been used for long time hair loss. It soothes the scalp; reduces dandruff and conditioning the hair due to its alkaline property with suits the hair pH. Before applying, the hair to be washed properly, and the extracted pure aloe vera gel is massaged into the hairy scalp for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. It can be repeated twice or thrice a week and if used with aloe vera shampoo and conditioner the results are better.


Hibiscus is also called a shoe flower. This flower along with its leaves has beneficial effects such as reduces split ends, thickens the hair, eliminates dandruff, and prevents premature greying. Crush few hibiscus flowers and boil in two cups of coconut oil and simply apply it to your hairy scalp and leave it on for a couple of hours, twice a week to see its unimaginable effect.

Onion juice       

The benefits of onion juice are worthy apart from its smell. It is one of the traditional sources to successfully treat patchy hair loss by promoting hair growth. It also has germicidal or bactericidal properties due to high sulfur content. It improves blood circulation, reduces inflammation, and revitalizes the hair follicles. Blend a few onions and squeeze out the juice. Apply the juice to your scalp and hair and leave in for at least 15 minutes and shampoo it.


Garlic is commonly used as a traditional or home remedy for hair loss, as it contains high nutrient sulfur. Crush a few cloves of garlic into a pan filled with coconut oil. Boil it for 3-4 minutes and allow it to cool and massage it into the scalp and leave it for about 30 minutes, before washing your hair. Repeat it twice or thrice a week, it can nurture healthy hair growth.


It is a superb herb, usually used as a cosmetic remedy. Take few henna leaves and a quarter liter of mustard oil and boil till the leaves get burnt, filter using a cloth. If stored in an airtight container it can be used often for dying hair, strengthens your hair, and promotes hair growth. It also reduces dandruff and has a conditioning effect.


Egg contains several ingredients that have been found to control hair fall. It is rich in sulphur, phosphorus, zinc, iodine, selenium, and protein, which are all excellent at promoting hair growth. As most of the saloon offers protein treatment for hair fall, hence egg is an inexpensive and easy way to give your hair a protein treatment at home. Take the white of an egg, mix with a tablespoon of olive oil and apply it on the scalp and length of your hairs. Leave it for half an hour and then wash it off with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. This gives thick and healthy voluminous hair.

Indian Gooseberry/Amla

Amla is one of the richest sources of Vitamin C, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and exfoliating effects to encourage hair growth and improves the hair color.

Take 2 tbsp of amla powder and lime juice and mix well to form a paste. Apply the paste to your scalp and let it dry and wash it off with lukewarm/cold water.

Fenugreek seeds

This herb contains proteins, nicotinic acid, and hormone precursor that fosters hair growth and rejuvenation. Add 2tsp of water to a few fenugreek seeds; grind it to form a smooth paste. Then add coconut oil and apply on scalp for at least half an hour to get benefitted.


Licorice soothes the scalp and eliminates itching. It reduces dandruff, opens the pores on your scalp, and accelerates hair growth. Take little licorice to a cup of milk and apply the paste to your scalp. Leave it overnight and wash it off in the morning. The procedure can be repeated twice a week for effective results

Green tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, which prevents hair loss and promotes hair growth. You can use the used tea bags to your scalp and leave it for 1hr and wash with tap water.


Potato is rich in Vitamin C, iron, potassium, and Vitamin A which all play a key role in cell growth and promotes hair growth. Extract its juice and mix with honey or olive oil and apply to your scalp, leave it for about half an hour and wash it off.

Lemon Juice

It is rich in Vitamin C and a superb astringent that tighten pores and works a lot for oily hair. Take the juice of 2-3 lemons into a bowl of warm water, rinse your hairy scalp. Leave it for 5 minutes and wash with tepid water.

Curry Leaves & Coconut oil

Boil both ingredients together in a pan. Allow to cool and apply the black remnants that are formed to your head and wash it off after an hour. Repeat twice a week, makes your hair soft, reduce grey hair, and promote hair growth.

Neem or Indian Lilac

Neem has a very good antibacterial property. It stimulates blood flow and eliminates dandruff and head lice. Boil 10-12 neem leaves in a water container. Wait for the water to lower to half the quantity and allow the contents to cool. Rinse your hair with it and wash it off


Beetroot rich in carbohydrates, proteins, potassium, calcium, vitamin B, and C, all helps to promote hair growth. Boil the beetroot leaves and henna. Apply to hairy scalp and leave it for about half an hour. Repeat thrice a week to get desired effects.

Coconut milk

It contains abundant iron, potassium, protein, and essential fats, which nourish the hair follicles and boost hair growth. Crush fresh coconut to form paste and squash to extract milk. Add a few drops of lemons and 3-4 drops of lavender oil to milk and apply to your scalp and leave it 3-5 hours.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Take 75 ml of it to a liter of purifying water to produce the ultimate solution for hair growth and shines hair. Rinse your hair with it and wash it off.

Greek Yogurt

Yogurt is rich in Vitamin B5 and proteins and works as a natural conditioner. Take 2tsp yogurt and mix honey and lemon juice to form a paste. Apply and leave it for 30 minutes and wash it off with cold water.

Honey, olive oil and cinnamon paste

Make a paste using the honey, olive oil, or cinnamon and apply it to your scalp at least once a week. It works as a tough hair fall home remedy.

Coffee Powder Paste

Coffee is very potent, stains the grey hair and promotes hair growth. Take 3-4 tsp of coffee in one cup of water, boil and cool it. Apply it to your scalp and wash it off with cold water.
